About this Department
DeSoto County is an "exclusive provider customer" of the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority (PRMRWSA), which supplies the County with a high-quality and safe potable drinking water supply. This agreement with PRMRWSA guarantees all of the County's future water needs. The current allocation rate is 0.675 MGD (million gallons/day).
The County has approximately 43 miles of water transmission main which includes 9 miles of distribution main and (2) water booster pump stations that include (2) above-ground storage tanks each with a storage capacity of 500,000 gallons. Additionally, the System has approximately 34 miles of force mains and 5 miles of gravity lines with an existing 0.950 MGD Regional WWTP on South Hwy 31.
The service area is defined as “encompassing all unincorporated areas of DeSoto County, less those areas serviced by the City of Arcadia to include the Lake Suzy service area which was purchased in April of 2013.
