DeSoto County Launches New Emergency Notification System 

County residents can now receive emergency alerts through a new community emergency notification system, called DeSoto Alert. Those who sign up have the ability to choose how they want to receive their emergency notifications by selecting their home telephone, cell phone, email or by text message. 

County Emergency Management officials will be conducting a test of the new Alert System on Thursday August 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. When the alert is sent out, participants will need to acknowledge the alert when prompted to prevent additional calls. For your phone, you will be asked to press the number 1 button, for your cell phone you will need to type in the word YES and for your email you will need to click on the provided link  The phone number you can expect to see on the caller ID will be (863) 993-4835 or the words "DeSoto County."
