Mission Statement

It is the mission at the DeSoto County Building Department to promote life safety, health, and welfare of the county’s residents and visitors by ensuring that construction projects comply with the minimum intent of the codes, and the use of all buildings and structures provide for safety within DeSoto County. We are responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Florida Building Code and the National Electrical Code. We will provide polite, prompt, and professional service to our community. We will demonstrate honesty, integrity, and fairness in all aspects of our responsibilities. We will constantly strive for excellence in our ethical conduct while performing plan reviews, field inspections, and permitting for all residential, commercial, and industrial construction within DeSoto County.   

Office Hours

Our office hours are Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but there is no permitting after 4:30 pm.

Inspection Requests

Inspections can be requested by calling the office at 863-993-4811 before 4:30 pm or by emailing Building@Desotobocc.com. After-hours inspection requests can be made online, using the Citizen Self Service portal.
