January 21, 2019: DeSoto County has begun construction on the County Road 763 (North Hog Bay Extension and Hog Bay Road) Improvements Project. 

The project limits include:  

  • North Hog Bay Extension from State Road 31 on the north side to County Road 760A on the south side;
  • Hog Bay Road from County Road 760A on the north side, to State Road 31 on the south side.

The project is being funded through the Florida Department of Transportation’s Small County Outreach and Small County Road Assistance Programs.The total funding allocated for this project is $5.4 Million.Work involves pavement resurfacing and drainage improvements including road cross drain replacement. Construction began in January 2019 and is expected to be complete around by December 2019. 

Residents should be advised that periodic road closures of different portions of these roadways and single lane closures will occur throughout the project duration.  Variable message boards will be used to notify motorists of local road closures. DeSoto County appreciates your patience throughout this improvement project.
