Heartland Regional Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO)

Sep 03 | Heartland Regional Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO)

Apply to join the HRTPO CAC Now!

In order to represent the broad cross-section of interested citizens in the transportation planning process in the six-county Heartland Region including the Sebring-Avon Park urbanized areas, the Heartland Regional Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) is seeking representatives to serve as members of the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC will provide public input on transportation issues in the Heartland Region.

Once formed, the CAC will meet at least quarterly at a convenient location to be determined. The committee will operate under the Sunshine Act and all meetings will be open to the public. Members are not required to file a disclosure of financial interest.  Public Notice will be given seven days in advance of all meetings, posted on the HRTPO website and distributed to local media outlets.

The HRTPO will seek representational membership, while following the guidelines outlined in the Public Participation Plan and includes two citizens from each member county, and one member each from the cities of Sebring and Avon Park to total 14 members. Representatives from the following interest areas are encouraged:

    Agriculture Industry
Chambers of Commerce and Small Business
    Economic Development

To be considered during the initial 2015 application period, please submit your application by Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Applicants will be reviewed by your local government and the HRTPO Board before approval. After formation, the application process will be ongoing to ensure all 14 appointments remain filled.

If you live or work in the Heartland Region, feel strongly about transportation, are interested in representing other citizens, and have a proven track record of community involvement, please take a few moments to complete the application.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion or family status.  Persons requiring accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or language translation, free of charge should contact Marybeth Soderstrom at (863) 534-7130.
